This song tells the story of someone who struggles with commitment and has already rationalized that commitment is fleeting and therefore artificial. Good times and good people, however, are not artificial. Especially as a man, so many more things are fleeting, especially as he continues to grow and fall and the cycle again. The best thing a man can have is what is Good to him. And from the woman, he isn't worried about how beautiful she is that people can't help but look at her and make approaches; he isn't worried about how crazy she acts sometimes; and he isn't worried that she sees the Good in other people as well. So all he asks for is her best; to be good to him. To help understand what it's like to be on this earth and to want for and feel for things as she does. And when she gives him her best, he's willing to put everything to the side for it.
